Public Access Instructions |
The Shawnee County District Court Public Access program allows individuals to look up information on cases filed in Shawnee County that are available for public viewing. You will need either a case number or the last name of a person for searching purposes. All information given is public record and not confidential. If you have a question about a case you will need to contact your attorney. The Webmaster will not reply to any questions dealing with a specific case.

Instructions:
To Search using a Case Number: Enter a case number in the "Case Number" box and click on the "Search" button. A page consisting of relevant case information and the appearance docket entries for the case will be displayed. Click the New Search button to return to the main screen. If the case number is not valid, you will see the message, "The case number you entered is not valid".
To Search by Name: To search using a name, you must enter a last name in the "Last Name" box. If the name is a business name, enter it in the Last Name field and leave the First Name and Middle Name fields blank. After you have entered this information, click the "Search" button. If nothing matches your search criteria, a message, "No matches found", will be displayed. If one or more matches are found, a list consisting of the Case Number and Name will be displayed. Click on a case number to view relevant case information and the appearance docket entries for that case.
Limiting a "Search by Name": If your search uses a common last name, you may wish to narrow the search. To narrow a search, you may enter either a part of or the entire first name in the "First Name" box. You may narrow the search further by entering initials or a middle name in the "Middle Name" box.
Starting a New Search: At the main screen, click "Reset" to clear all of the text boxes.
Printing Case Information: Click the Printer icon on your browser.
